Cartherman Gary

Gary L. Catherman

Managing Director

Mr. Catherman has over 35 years of investment banking and management consulting experience, having joined KSCA in 1988. Mr. Catherman is experienced in advising shareholders, senior management, and lenders with respect to sell-side, buy-side, licensing, and due diligence engagements for a range of consumer product suppliers and retailers. Mr. Catherman’s corporate finance experience entails advising clients and executing transactions involving public and private sales, business valuations, strategic mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations, management buyouts, restructurings, licensing agreements, and leveraged transactions. In addition to his merger and acquisition experience, he has had broad-ranging involvement in consulting engagements to develop corporate- and business-level strategic plans, marketing plans, market entry strategies, industry analyses, and diversification strategies. 

Mr. Catherman is a licensed Securities Principal (Series 24), licensed General Securities Representative (Series 7), Uniform Securities Agent (Series 63), and Limited Representative – Investment Banking (Series 79) with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and is based in KSCA’s Atlanta office.

Harkey Jon

Jonathan (Jon) H. Harkey

Managing Director

Mr. Harkey has over 20 years of investment banking and private equity experience. His transaction experience includes sell-side and buy-side mergers and acquisitions advisory, debt and equity capital raising, leveraged buyouts, and valuations for public and private companies. Mr. Harkey joined KSCA in 2003 and has over 20 years of consumer and retail transaction experience.

Mr. Harkey holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the Wayne Calloway School of Business and Accountancy at Wake Forest University and an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Harkey is a licensed Securities Principal (Series 24), licensed General Securities Representative (Series 7), Uniform Securities Agent (Series 63), and Limited Representative—Investment Banking (Series 79) with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and is based in KSCA’s Atlanta office.

Payne Brad

O. Bradley (Brad) Payne

Managing Director

Mr. Payne has over 35 years of experience in investment banking and commercial lending and has specialized in merger and acquisition and financial advisory work for the last 25 years. His transaction experience includes exclusive advisory sale representation of public and private companies, divestitures, acquisitions, management buyouts, private placements of long-term capital, asset-based financing, licensing agreements, and leasing. Prior to joining KSCA in 1994, Mr. Payne was a senior member of the national corporate finance practice of Ernst & Young. His previous experience includes lending positions with General Electric Capital and First Union National Bank. 

Mr. Payne holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Wake Forest University. He is a licensed Securities Principal (Series 24), licensed General Securities Representative (Series 7), Uniform Securities Agent (Series 63), and Limited Representative—Investment Banking (Series 79) with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and is based in KSCA’s Atlanta office.
